The net export of polished diamonds increased a whopping 48% in 2010 for Israel diamonds. In 2010 Israel exported nearly 6 billion dollars in polished diamonds which is an explosive growth when comparing to last year’s 3.9 billion dollars. Rough diamonds saw an even larger increase which amounted to 62.1% increase.
“The past achievements of the diamond industry haven’t been matched thus far, but we are definitely moving in the right direction and there is a good chance that in 2011 or 2012 we will reach the benchmarks of 2008 or 2007. I must acknowledge that some of these marks were reached thanks to the efforts of Industry, Trade and Labor Minister Binyamin Ben-Eliezer to open and expand rough [supplies] from new and existing sources,” Mordechai continued.
